Old T-Lock Handles from the 70s: Time to Upgrade Your Security

15/06/2018 T-lock garage door.

The 70s was an era famous for many different reasons: music, art, fashion, conflict and flares are all associated with the 70s. However, security was an issue that wasn’t as celebrated in this time period. Car security was virtually non-existent, with joyriding a common issue for car owners to worry about. Thefts from garages were also a common problem, with most garages featuring unreliable T-lock systems. Many garages today still have these locks on them which leaves valuables in the garage at risk of being stolen.

The Dangers with T-Locks

The main danger with T-locks is the fact that they’re easy targets for thieves. They have been popular in garage design since the 70s and 80s. This has given thieves the time to master the art of breaking the locks. They will protect your possessions against inexperienced thieves but the seasoned professionals will be able to crack the locks in a matter of seconds. Little force is even required to open the door, as displayed in the video below.
